World Teachers’ Day happens every year on October 5. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) kicked off the event in 1994 to commemorate the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

The theme of World Teachers’ Day in 2022 is “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.” According to UNESCO, “Celebrations will address the commitments and calls for action made at the Transforming Education Summit, in September 2022, and analyze the implications they have for teachers and teaching.”
